"Today we were learning about EVAC systems. It's to do with fuel systems of different cars." - Alex Lindsay
"It was more hands on as we were getting asked to try and find the different components on the Engine so it was more practical. We were also getting showed on the cars where the different parts are and how they are located differently on different cars which was quite interesting finding out about different manufactures and where they put the different components. We also got showed different engines and how much bigger the parts and components are over here in Canada compared to the United Kingdom. " - Alex Lindsay
"Once we were at the college we went to the class it was the same woman from before. She came up to us and gave us all hot wheels which I thought was really nice. She's really lovely she sat and talked to us and guided us through how to do the electrical diagnostics. We got shown how to use the diagnostic equipment and make waveforms on the computer. It seemed complicated but once shown and we understood it. It then became very easy and predictable on what to do next. We got a break halfway through the class for some time for some lunch and water. After break we came back and were doing the same diagnostics however with more waveforms and more information about different problem's so it was a little bit more complicated but still understandable. "She was really good at explaining what was going on as well as drawing diagrams to break it down for us since we hadn’t done the advanced electronics before since were only in level one back home. She also went through how to use the Snap-On diagnostic electrical tester to get up information in diagrams and charts. This was a great learning experience since we don’t have that kind of technology in college back home and now, we have used them before it's another thing we can add to our tool belt and use back home if and when we get the opportunity to do so again. It's amazing what technology they use here everything is so advanced and up to date. Even likes of the tests we were doing was on actual running engines in purpose built stands where we attached a massive wiring loom to so that the whole class could attach their machines, and all be able to do the tests and learn as a class. "Ashtonbee campus offered to give the three of us a tour of the college and all the different sections within it which was great as we got to see all of the opportunities that the college has to offer from working on massive Volvo semi-trucks to the smallest of 3 cylinder engines. The college even had its own nearly new construction equipment for the students to learn on. The amazing part is that all of the equipment and vehicles are donated to the college excluding a very few things they have bought. The college even has its own motorcycle and small engine section with at least forty bikes for the college to work on of all shapes and sizes from 1000 cc sports bikes to massive tourers, there’s even cruiser kikes with custom chopped frames. The facilities the college and its students have at hand is just amazing. There are so many opportunities to learn there and so many more opportunities to just have fun while learning and I think we could learn a lot from them in the ways the courses are so diverse and broken down into the key components of every vehicle, they even learn how to operate a workshop and bodyshops." - Connor Gibb
